Everyone has a story waiting to be told, and every story is sacred in its own special way. With over 20 years of experience as a professional communicator, I have come to appreciate how the words we choose and the stories we tell have the power to transform relationships. My role is to help you become both a good reader and coauthor of the narrative of your own life so that you can begin to rewrite old scripts that are getting in the way of becoming your true self and living your best life.
As a psychotherapist, former journalist, and consummate seeker, I offer you compassion, tools, and insights gleaned from both sides of the therapy couch. My aim is to help you make peace with all the parts of yourself so you can shine your light and express your gifts.
Psychotherapy
I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a highly effective, evidence-based therapy aimed at fostering harmony and compassion between the self and the parts of us that overtake us when we get emotionally triggered. This mindful therapy honors that every person has an inner well of compassion, curiousity, creativity, calm, connectness, clarity, courage and confidence that can heal our wounded parts (click here or read my Psychology Today blog on “The Self Lost and Found“). Furthermore, as a spiritually-oriented psychotherapist with a background in writing, I possess a novel perspective and skill set that my clients have found extremely helpful. Together, we will marshal your innate ability to transform and reclaim your personal narrative. We will also examine how your decisions, big and small, affect your storyline – from the relationships you choose, how you spend your day, and how you nourish yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Writing is integrated into therapy for those who request it, but it is not required. Learn more…
“Step Out of Your Story” Writing Workshops
My transformative writing workshops play with the elements of a novel. Previously offered at the Open Center, 92nd Street Y and the JCC in Manhattan,“Step Out of Your Story” is a series of structured writing exercises designed to help people who feel stuck – in a dead-end job, a challenging relationship, or a stage of life – get a fresh perspective on a familiar story…their own.
